So here we are.
We have arrived at Part 3 of the
Who's Who of Single Parents List, the Celebrities.
This list forgoes Hollywood and reality t.v., (nope, you won't find Bridget Monahan or Jason Mesnick here) and instead names some of the genuine single parent super stars in our world--
the ones that have inspired us with their grace, their candor, their sassyness and sex appeal, their talent and their courage. They've written books, been on
Oprah and
Rachel Ray, gotten the attention of
Ford, and attracted thousands of loyal followers to their blogs.
Celebrity, however, is a funny word. Perhaps it's just plane cheesy. All it simply means is "well known person," but we've built it up in our heads to mean silly stuff like Escalades and American Express Black Cards.
These single parents featured on this list are well known people. However, they change diapers and have to deal with sleepless/lonely nights just like the rest of us.
At the end of the day they are singe moms and single dads who share our same concerns. They go to bed wondering if they've done enough to feed their ducklings, and love them enough for two. At home, they are no different than us, but out in the world they make bigger ripples than most simply because they swim in bigger ponds....and they are making a good impression.
The
Top 4 Celebrity Single Parents on the Web have an influence that is reshaping the way society views single moms and single dads, and for that we thank them.
Without further adieu, let's meet the Top 4:
Single parents are....some of the strongest people on Earth, without a shadow of a doubt - we kick ass.

Prince charming can kiss my ass... unless he manages to sweep me off my feet. But I'm not waiting!

"Oh this is tough. I love them all. I do. I don't publish a post unless there's a story there, or something my readers can take away from my experience. If I had to choose just one it would be
the post that is actually a letter to my father, who died of cancer 10 years ago. I reprinted a letter he had written me in 1987 and then replied. I have yet to re-read that post because it's just too painful, so I'm not even sure what I wrote but I know that after hitting publish I felt a huge wave of relief. And it will be there forever for Benjamin to read as well.
Something you may not know about Alaina:
I'm 5' 9". I've never mentioned my height on my blog, so there you go. What's weird is that men e-mail me often asking me what my height is. I never respond to those - CREEPY.

4. Something new readers/followers may not know about you (that you want them to know)
I have no idea what I'm doing and pretty much make it up as I go. Like after I let JD have some feta cheese, I was like, sh*t! Can babies eat feta? I remember it was on the bad cheese list when I was pregnant. He survived!
A quote from Chrissy's blog
Storked! that I find inspiring:
I hope my blog and now this book will remind you all that life holds no promises and that we can make all the plans we want but sometimes we just have to let someone, something take the reins, and it's scary, believe me. But I've learned that being afraid is a really good thing because it holds a silver lining and a promise for something better.

3. Kristin D., BetterNow

Tall, Lucky, and still slightly Debaucherous
My most popular post in terms of comments (533) is a dumb post about my brother's hair. My favorite post was one I wrote about moments in November over 3 years and I can't find it because I need a blog organization class. C
Something you may not know about Kristin:
" I've traveled to 27 countries, sometimes on my own, often with soul friends. I've snowboarded from the top of glaciers and bicycled around fields of Holland tulips, reluctantly ingested Thailand insects, and enjoyed hearty laughter with people around the globe. I have been: a receptionist, a bartender, a cross country runner, a corporate executive. I was also once hit by a bus. My son is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
(Embarrassing sidenote: the picture above is directly ripped off from my sketchy online dating profile.)"
A quote from Kristin's blog
Better Now that I find inspiring:
The last three years have meant so many changes for me: a shift from party girl to Mama, from cherished fiancee to sudden singleton, from corporate radio sales to work at home blog slinging. Through those three years, one thing has remained constant: my constant sidekick, my blond reason for being, my inspiration for happiness. My everything, without the slightest trace of ironic.

What I find so inspiring about Matt:
Matt had no idea his blog was going to become such a nationwide sensation or that he would ever be profiled in People magazine/appear on Oprah/hang with Salma Hayek on Rachel Ray. I'm sure he would return all of it for one more day with Liz, his wife whom (if you read his blog you can tell) he loved completely. He is using his celeb status to help others in devastating situations like his own. He started the
Liz Logelin Foundation to offer support and friendship to newly windowed parents like himself.
