So back in October I got rearended and it did some damage to my left arm and shoulder. This was a preexisting condition from a hit and run rearend 2 years almost to the day before. (This is what led my carpal tunnel to be bad enough for surgery to be needed).
In between these two accidents I had 3 windows broken out in my car from 3 different events in my apartment complex. A tree fell on the roof and hood of the car. All of these things were quickly and relatively easily repaired, simply annoyances to my day and life when they happened. (The windows were all busted out when I was supposed to be driving little girl scouts to events the next day).
Outside of this the car ran fine and it got us to and from. It was not good on gas milage, but was ok. I loved the car despite these things. Due to really bad financial decisions in my last relationship I sold the car 2 weeks ago to pay off a loan I had taken out on it. I was actually happy about this even though I will be carless for several months for 3 reasons. 1, the money issue, 2, I will walk more and this will get me healthy, 3, I owned the car because of my last relationship and my "step kids." Not to mention that I have a problem of doing things I'm not supposed to (like driving with a wrist that just had surgery on it).
So I have had a friend driving me around to appointments and for big things. He is presently unemployed and has nothing better to do, except get moved out of his apartment into his parents, which of course he is procrastinating on. Today he took me to my appointment to get the stitches removed from the surgery and hear that it's fine and that I can use it again. After this we were going to get his sister's truck so he could help me get a new bed for my girls.
We are heading down the street to his sisters and he says "holy s>>>" to which I look to my left and say "oh your f>>>king kidding me" as the corner of the ford s10 hits the front panel of his geo tracker and her side slides down the side of his car. I watch in awe as her car continues to crush his side mirror on her hood wondering "is she going to stop? Why is she still driving into us and trying to take out the mirror?"
I got out of the car as soon as we quit scooting across the road and just started laughing. Really how much crazier can this car thing get? 3 accidents, a tree and 3 windows. I just couldn't stop laughing. When I did I got pictures of the cars and kept my friend calm, who oddly enough was laughing at this point as well despite the shock he was going through.
My friend and I seem fine and we were seen by the doc just for insurance sake so all looks ok. The car seems pretty totaled as when we drove it to his sisters 2 blocks down it shook and made a weird noise. We got our stuff done for the day, however as we headed down the street with the 2 ton truck we borrowed just as we came to the same intersection we had to slam on the brakes to prevent the EXACT same thing from happening again!
Crazy, crazy, crazy. It's all about public transportation for me for a bit. Must be a sign. The most thankful thing about all these issues with me and cars is that my children have NEVER been present for these things and so not had my misfortune effect them. Thank you thank you thank you.
