And I feel that I must not fit in here because I am a little "different" than most of you. I walk a different path. But that is neither here nor there.
I have made some grandly stupid mistakes in the past year and I guess now I am paying for them in spades by being made to live here with my parents. I lost a good job due to stupidity, divorce and financial stress and a desperate need to get out of the town I was living in and long story short.....I wasted a lot of money and time and have nothin…

Those are supposed to be the only things that are guaranteed in life. And yesterday, during my visit with B to see his grandparents, I ended up getting a major dose of both in a pretty uncomfortable family meeting.

My daughter is a spirited child.
When she was just over a year we had a rather traumatic experience with her. She threw a tantrum and passed out. Her body went stiff, her eyes started rolling back in her head and her lips went blue.
I freaked out and literally threw her at her father. It felt like hours but eventually she came too and was fine. We were very shaken though.
We figured it was a once off but did monitor her. A few weeks later, just as we were starting to breathe easier she did it…

If you're interested in finding a local group of single parents that have events that are both kid-friendly and also have pure adult time visit singleparents.meetup.com. It looks great.
And, if you can't find a local group then you can create one and lead the group events!
Take care!

It's last Friday, 8/8, and I get an email from one of the producers of the Mike & Juliet show. They are trying to reach Morgan, my partner because they want to get her on the show for a segment about being pregnant and abandoned, doing it alone. The show is scheduled for the next Tuesday, 8/12. Morgan doesn't get back from England until that evening I tell the producer. The producer asks if I would like to be on the show, if I had a similar experience. I told her I was pretty much alone duri…

As Single Parents, we have one thing in common... We are raising children on our own.
And I've acknowledged before that each of our situations is unique and special.
Today I wanted to talk about something ELSE that is unique and special.
And that's what I'm going to call your "genius".
Your "genius" is something that is unique and special that you do... It's something that you are a MASTER of and something you LOVE to do.
Yeah, sound pretty BIG eh?
No

I really believe we do the best we can, but once in awhile we let our temptations get the best of us.
I’ve been single now for about 3 months, well officially called it quits as my son’s father and I are just too different. It’s really been a good thing because even though I had wished that it could work out for our family, it wasn’t my ideal relationship and so now I feel like I am getting to know myself better. In fact, towards the end of our relationship, I wrote a list of qualities that my…

I have to say, that I don't watch alot of television... So when a friend makes a recommendation I try to follow through and check it out...
I was recently told about a show called 30 Days in which Morgan Spurlock... the same guy that did the McDonald's Movie "SuperSize Me".
The premise of the show is that they take someone with a strong view and p

The other night I was watching three other kids besides my daughter… This was a grand total of four kids. Not a rare occasion, but a blessing nonetheless!
And on this warm spring evening I made an observation that was pretty keen… at least on my part.
I mean, hey, if you’re not going to toot your own horn, who is?
Parents with kids over the age of five are going to laugh at me, but hey, I can take it! ha ha!
See, I even laughed at myself.
Okay, back to the story…
I was watching three of th…

As much as I like to avoid the “negative” there is something that I have to get off my chest…
And no, it’s not a “Bad Tattoo” or a reference to a Springtime cold! ha ha!
I am convinced that we live in a “cycle of distraction”…
And what I mean is that amid the flurry of MySpace Comments, buying Ring Tones and eMail, it’s hard to stay focused on the tasks of the day, let alone make long-term plans for success as a Single Parent…
While some of this might not directly affect you, it’s more of an…

I realize what I need to do in order to date. You see, I have a two month old little girl, and since I exclusively breatfeed, it's hard to go anywhere without her. Every time I meet a guy, they ask if I want to do something, and I have to say, "well, you know Brielle would have to come, right?" Most are cool, but the 20 year olds I meet usually want to go somewhere that I wouldn't be comfortable bringing her. SO, I think I need to date men with children! That way, we'd always go out with the kid…

Whats the best part about hanging out with other single parents?
They totally know how to go with the flow!
When plans change, its not a big deal...we just alter course and keep looking for the fun!
Tonight, as you know, was supposed to be movie night at the Academy Theater. If you were like me, then you were highly anticipating the evening....looking forward to checking the kiddo's into their on-sight childcare and grabbing a slice of Pizza and a beer before heading into watch an R rated movie…
