MIA ex resurfaces from the slime pit.
Today, on my kid's 3rd birthday, his dad, who has not bothered to see him for 10 months, emails me out of the blue and decides he wants to start seeing him again. He is supposed to see him for the first time this coming Monday after work. I suggested that we start with short visits with both of us present and work up to longer visits.

Where are all the frickin' men?
Tonight I went to a fun kids' concert with another single mom friend and her daughter and some married friends and their kid. My son is SO attached to the guy that I don't know whether to be happy or to cry! I mean I am happy for him that he digs on my friend's husband so much...but then I click into these sad thoughts that he needs to attach to other kid's dads because his has decided to be MIA.

My temporary "wife"
OK, I am getting seriously spoiled. A friend of mine who is a stay at home mom (and her family) are staying with me temporarily while they house-hunt. Her husband is busy working and is basically never around.

Everybody else in our class was over 30, and many of them were well over 30 (50's and 60's). - Ah ha! I finally caught up with Jasmine and asked her what she thought of OCOM, since she is teaching there now. (Jasmine and I graduated from Bastyr together.) She said that curriculum-wise, OCOM's program is on par with Bastyr's. The main difference between the schools, though, is that OCOM is strictly Traditional Chinese Medicine, while Bastyr offers a nutrition program, psych, Naturopathy, etc. And you can take elective courses from all the programs. (I personally enjoyed eating all the nutrition student's experiments.) I have no idea what cost difference there is. That would definitely be one of my deciding factors.
Let me know what you decide.

I can surely relate to your blog...my youngest misses her daddy so much as he rarely sees her. The other day a man walked by in a restaurant that resembled him...she yelled, "Hi Daddy!!" I wanted to crawl under the table. When he does show up to see her...she asks for him for days afterwards so there are times when I wish he would just move far away and not come around...sad, I know. Your son is SO adorable!!!! :o)

Jordan said… - Aww, thanks. She's a cutie pie. She's been doing the tantrum thing, too. Time has proven the best for us. Sometimes she has "speical time outs" where she knows she's not in trouble, we have a special cozy chair with a canopy over it and books and a baby and she goes there and can cry and take time away. That's only at home, of course.
