"my BEST thinking got me the woman who caused me the most pain." EXACTLY. I'm right there with you, Don. I found the most well-adjusted, "normal," marry-able man, and we see where that got me. My dating algorithm -- out the window. The less I plan…

Ohmygosh. This totally worked. He completely got it and was on the same page. Didn't think it was weird or too forward or a turn-off in any way. Wow. Gone are my days of overanalyzing this stuff. *forehead smack* Thanks, guys.

Thats a interesting question. I have never thought about that. I would have to agree with Mr. Green and if you are into eachother and dating then take him to bed and find out. Plus I am sure if he is into wild orgies and crazy shit he will bring it…

This is kind of a spinoff to the "Crazy girls, good girls...." discussion, wherein Scott was talking about every man's dream of a lady in public but porn star in the sack. I think all of us women know that deep down, whether we've acknowledged it co…

Best thing about being a Single P...
The confidence and strength I've gained from doing something alone that I never thought I could do.
I'm here for:
Friends, Networking, Testing the Waters as a New Single
What are your hobbies and interests?
You mean besides trying to find a tiny sliver of free time to just get one shower where I actually wash my feet on purpose instead of just hoping some soap slides across them?
What type of music do you like?
A little of everything. Seriously. I *love* music. Barbershop quartet, old school funk, and candy girl-pop are my guilty pleasures. I can equally enjoy Nat King Cole, Rob Zombie, Frederich Kuhlau, Audioslave, Billie Holliday, Patsy Cline, David Ball, Boyz II Men, The Crystal Method, Peter Gabriel, Joss Stone, Garbage, Loreena McKennitt, Maroon 5, Mary Mary, Reik, Sade, soulDecision, Stabbing Westward, Paul Oakenfold, Vince Gill, Sarah Brightman, Cake, Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, J.S. Bach, Megadeth, Tupac, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Information Society.
About Me:
Nutshell version: I’m a high functioning eccentric.

Long version: I’m a 40-year-old single mom of one preschool-aged son, who is, of course, the coolest creature I’ve ever met. I’m roughly of Irish and English descent with an incorrigible Southern US accent. My educational background is in marketing and computer information systems. I love consumer psychology but hate selling, love data modeling and programming but hate computers. Well, okay, that last part isn’t entirely true. It’s more accurate to say that I have a love/hate relationship with all technology, including computers.

I'm six feet tall. It deserves its own paragraph. Ha!

Neurophilosophy and biopsychology are incredibly interesting to me and are often the subjects of my personal studies. Personality typology is also interesting to me, whether based in science or pseudoscience. I’m the kind of gal who’s an INTJ/P, HSP, type 2 with social variant, type B, mid-level empath with her sun in Pisces and her ascendant smack dab in the middle of Scorpio and Gemini.

I have an intimate relationship with music and like a little of almost everything. From generic, overproduced boy band pop to rich, well-written musical masterpieces…from disco to barbershop quartet to classical to country to metal to electronica to neo-soul to classic Motown to bluegrass to jazz to…well, really, a little of almost everything. Sculpture is my favorite medium for visual art, but I have zero talent and don’t even try. I’m extremely skilled at appreciating it, however. Lucky for me, I have a good friend who lets me ogle her work. I enjoy writing when the mood strikes; it’s therapeutic for me. I have written poetry here and there over the years but don’t take it very seriously except for its cathartic qualities. I do enjoy reading the poetry of others.

Favorite movies include Edward Scissorhands, Dellamorte Dellamore (US title: “Cemetery Man”), O Brother Where Art Thou, The Big Lebowski, One Hour Photo, Top Secret!, Office Space, Young Frankenstein, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and bunches more I’ll have to add as I think of them.

I get excited about the ocean, waterfalls, chocolate, charities, Cirque du Soleil, dreaming, drum lines, Italian food with red wine, wine in general, logic, decluttering and organizing, coloring (yes, as in coloring books and crayons…or mandalas and colored pencils), pressure washers, rollercoasters, coffee, traveling by plane, trying to figure out life and death, ST:TNG reruns, taking snapshots in cemeteries or abandoned buildings, interesting people, philosophizing, minimalism, simplicity, yoga, humor, single-digit Mersenne prime numbers, exploring a forest, mundane automobile maintenance tasks like changing oil and doing tune-ups, taking classes, and floating in the middle of the swimming pool so that there’s nothing in my peripheral vision except sky.

Out of Touch

I've been way out of touch here lately. Friending people but not leaving them comments, abandoning posts I started, etc. :-(

The reasons aren't pleasant for me.

State legislation cut the funding for my employer by 42%. I am going to lose my job. Made plans to move back to Charlotte, NC, and live with my best friend, who is also a divorced single mom with a daughter who's six months younger than my son. Perfect situation. Our kids get along famously. Shared expenses and more IT jobs for me ther… Continue

The Depth

Passion.
She is embellished and then engulfed.
Her sudden sole means
Of self expression
Consumes her,
Her entire soul torn from her
In a painstakingly heedless display,
Completely, but momentarily.
He cannot even begin to understand.
She is not disappointed,
Sheltered by intuition.
The expression on his face
Is a fragment of ice
In a bowl full of crystals.
He cannot help it.
It melts
And is the depth of his essence,
The depth of the single tear
That escapes her.

Lilies

I wonder if the morning lily
Loves the morning dew
Half as much or half as well
As I am loving you.
Its glisten fades at noontime
So I am more inclined
To admire the water lily
Whose love is more like mine.

blanket

feeling cold and alone

inside my mind

i snuggle down into thoughts of him

a soft, inviting cover

with a velvety desire

that clings to it like an inescapable scent

lying down and

curling up

my legs and

the corners of my mouth

i shift and then pause

reminded again

of its dimensions

no matter how I position myself

some part of me always remains exposed

Plea to a Tear

I sensed your untimely arrival.
Now that you’re here,
Having bristled your way out
Like a wet hatchling –
Confused,
Unsteady,
Ready to tumble awkwardly forward
With the slightest twitch,
I desperately beg of you,
Please be satisfied where you are
Until we can be alone together
And I can help you find your way down
To my heart.

Hi Dana, I used to live in Wake Forest up until February. Lost my house to my landlord because his was foreclosed on and so now I am here in VA living with my parents....ugh. I have thought about moving back that way, my kids miss their friends, etc. but the rents are so high as compared to here. However, if the job situation doesn't improve here, I may end up back there because of that. The fun never ends does it? Grin.....

Hugs, Susan

We (kids and I) made a Christmas tree out of black PVC pipe and wood dowels. The PVC was the trunk. We bought wood dowels of various thicknesses, then drilled holes in the PVC and inserted the dowels. We also cut the dowels so that the shape would be triangular, like a real tree. We made ornaments out of aluminum foil.

I also made a "death dolly" for the kids. It is basically like a flat furniture dolly. I found some high end casters with good bearings and urethane wheels.
I put 2 handles on so the rider could sit on their butt and hold on. The dolly was attached to a rope which allowed me to pull the rider in a circle. The beauty of this was than I only had to pivot in circles and use the centrifugal force to generate frightening speed for the rider.

How are you doing? Any adventures over the xmas/new years holidays?

Paul

Really adorable pictures (your son is cute too) !
I am in a similar situation with the Cobra and finding a new job. I know things will work out - try to remember to enjoy as much of each day as you can. Stressing 24/7 is easy to do, but not a fun way to live.
There are other things to worry about, like the massive black hole at the center of our galaxy.

Hm, sounds like that could be pretty darn interesting. Hopefully they dig ya!

Life's good. Busy weekend with the boys; it's nice to have a night off tonight. But I'll probably have to spend it doing laundry, vacuuming, doing dishes, etc. And that's cool with me. Next week is hellishly busy at work, so some relaxing chore-time is appreciated.

Its actually Ludwig von Mises, but I'll give you an A for effort.
