Mostly I think I'm just writing this to get it out. Its been another rough year, but I'm starting to wonder if they aren't all rough and its more about how you play the hand than how the cards get dealt.

I got an email yesterday from my friend Brandon...

Duri was a good friend of mine, from many years ago. He and Brandon and I were basically inseparable for the better part of 3 or 4 years starting when I was 16 or so. So, this has been rolling around in my head a bit recently. Last week, I was off -- meaning I got to take Connor to his school myself (instead of the ex or the daycare doing it). And I ran into something I'd experienced a few times before, but seemingly more intently now that I'm single.

Along with the tooth fairy, Santa and UFO's, I had come to believe a day my ex would get that our son isn't a baby any more was a sheer fantasy. Apparently all of these now exist. After a prolonged disagreement about sending Connor to a real preschool with a real education program, a place to play and decent meals, she finally relented.
