Best thing about being a Single P...

The best thing about being a single parent are the short lapses in the dullness of every day living; the times we spend giggling over an ice cream cone or running to the bookstore to get the latest book in our favorite series. Those are the moments that define our lives and relationships.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Running, volunteering, reading, being active in my church.

Running is breaking down my body, so I've started riding my bike - usually 10 miles every other day. That led me on a search for a social network of people who use bikes for commuting - urban bike riders - more than folks who put on their bright biking tights and ride their road or mountain bikes. I'm interested in meeting people who ride to work, go grocery shopping and who use their bikes as a normal mode of transportation. So, if you are one of those people or are interested in the topic, I'd love to hear from you.

What type of music do you like?

About Me:

I've been a single dad for almost four years. There have been some tough times and difficult days, but I'm with my son and that's all that matters.

Like millions of other people, I was laid-off from a career I spent 15 years building. I was bitter at first, but now I see it as a blessing. In September I'll start working on a new career. I'm enrolled at a local medical college and will complete a medical assistant program. After I start working (preferably in a hospital), I'll figure out where to go from there; perhaps a respiratory or lab tech.

I coach youth sports ~ 8 - 10 year old flag football and baseball. I'm a youth mentor to high school kids at my church. I love to volunteer in my son's classroom.

I run 2.5 miles every other day. I'm always reading something and sometimes I have several books going at once.

I think something about me that surprises most people is that I traveled the world for years as a military photographer.
