Hi! I was just wondering if anybody else here has thought about going back to school. I have been in my field for 7yrs and am kinda topped out...now what I want to do but have to go back to school (2yr program) and am sooo scared! Each term I keep putting it off...even 1 class! I'm just not sure how I can handle being a single parents and work and go to school....not to mention how I'm gonna handle school when i get into my program since I won't be able to work (unless I waitress or something on my off times) anybody go thru this and figure it out yet??

Ignore the "McDonalds Gift Card" email from the group! It's YET MORE SPAM. I've emailed Clare and Morgan about this crap but it still goes on.

It's my first time trying to figure out camps for my two kids for the summer. Does anyone have other ideas for childcare during the summer? I hate to have to stick the kidlings somewhere where they are denied the summer freedom I had as a kid. Doesn't seem fair. What do other people do? I have no family in town. My X has a mother here who won't help much and X works too. Are the odds really that bad of winning Powerball? Ha. No really. Has anyone ever pooled money together to split the cost of a nanny between maybe 4 families...like a traveling play group? Do you think my boss would notice if I hid the kids under my desk at work? They are small.

I am getting laid off next week and I can't wait! More time to pursue my real passions in the same field, only freelancing, not full-time in the office. It took me some time to come around to liking the idea, but i am there now. Bring on the board meetings in my bedroom/office!

I don't know about advice....is your baby in care that you love and trust? I know finding daycare that I was crazy about was very helpful for me. I went back to work and school when my daughter was 6 months old. I had to keep in mind my goals for us.
Also, I have said this on here many times before....do something for work that you are proud of or work towards that goal. When you have a career that is fulfilling and you are proud of, you feel like working is being a role model to your children. When you have this mind set, you don't feel like you are taking away from them anymore, you feel like you are truly giving them something. I share my work with my daughter. I talk about what I did, who I helped, what I learned. And I ask her to tell me the same thing about her day. I never say I have to work, I always talk about it positively because I want her to know that being a single successful mother is more than OK, it's awesome.
I know your baby is only 2 months old but It gets better, I promise. It doesn't get easier, things never slow down, but your management of it and mind set about it can shift and make it fulfilling.

I was alone with kids most of my life, and I worked all the time. It is not easy if you are a professional and a woman as there is still a feeling that you "can't give your all" to the job since you have to rush home when the kids are sick, when they have their concert or their sports etc etc. I challenged all and am now really tired of it. So decided to try and work from home. Have no idea how, but will try. But for single dads, I have no idea...It must be even harder I guess as they are expected to be competative, to put job first. It is hard..But hey, we have those little words " I love you" more than the absent parent. :) :)

I can't complain. Sure I'm working 54 hrs a week right now but I'm just glad to have a job. There are so many people out there struggling right now. It's getting hectic because my 13 yr old just started basketball so now I have to incorporate games and practice into my crazy days!!

@Sonia - Sorry to hear about your situation. 8.5 years is a long time to spend at one company only to be laid off. I've been there and I know it isn't fun. What are your plans?
