I absolutely love thrift store shopping... that's almost all my daughter and I wear. I nanny and I've actually had friends of my employer pay me to shop for their children! So much fun.

Ditto about the mom jeans. I have a few pairs I like, but I mostly wear skirts and dresses. I look kind of young anyway, and in jeans I feel like a 17 year old.

I just wanted to share my single-momma-who-NEVER-wears-shorts style secret for staying cool in the hot sticky oven we call Texas: sundresses from Ross! They are dirt cheap ($12-19.99) lightweight (cotton) and comfy! I am totally on the boho tip so I'm always wearing mine with flip flops and ankle bracelets. I actually made one of them into a skirt by accident- the spaghetti straps broke and I pulled it down around my waist to see how it looked-voila! An ankle length tiered skirt that I get lots of compliments on (if only they knew). I am also in love with the Urban Nomad line carried at Earthbound Trading Co.- the cutest little wrap tops, dresses and skirts and none cost more than 30 bucks. Made out of vintage sari fabric, they can be dressed up or down.

OMG, I am so on the same page as you with the whole "mom jeans" thing. Actually I think that has been one of my problems with meeting other moms of kids my age. So many of them place themselves in a new category of humans that I don't understand. I may not have tons of money, but I can buy fashionable and do it so that I afford it. I honestly don't know where I would be without my Citizens.:)

I cracked up when I saw the "mom jeans" mentioned here- they are my biggest fashion pet peeve. Who keeps making Mom Jeans? Why won't they stop?

HAHA yes Morgan..mom jeans a definate thumbs down!!! Skinnys get my vote..i also vow to never have a soccer mom haircut or wear high white sicks with shorts. hehe

does anyone know of tim gunn's 10 essentials in any closet - i remember jeans, dress pants, day dress, trench coat, white blouse i think, sweatpants alternative, evening dress i think for going out, sooo that's 7 out of 10 i don't remember the others i'm sure skirt is in there that would be 8 out of 10..
