Oh Kim.....no, honey, they come much earlier than that!! I have an 11 yr old boy, soon to be 12 in Sept and an 8.5 yr old...can't forget that 1/2....smile. John, the 11 yr old, is going to middle school next year. My worst nightmares coming to fruition. In Elementary you still have somewhat control over who they hang out with, etc. Sigh...middle school changes all that and he already thinks he "is not a child." Heard that one the other night and he heard me afterwards, let me tell you. Speaking of flirting, John has a "girl" friend in the neighborhood who is also 11 and her boobs are bigger than mine! Now, the 8.5 year old, Rian, is smart as a whip and cute with freckles on his nose and pretty much wants to do everything big brother does, doesn't matter the age difference. Including have girlfriends. He came "strutting" (the only word for it...lol) home one day last fall and said that he had a girlfriend.....the girl in question was 9 yrs old. Since we have moved here and he started in a new class he informed me that he had 3 girls that wanted to "date" him. I am soooo not ready for any of this....but I guess I'd better get ready........grin.

My 7 year old son was flirting with three girls at one time last weekend. He told me that he "needs a date". I thought these issues would come much later than 2nd grade!

I've got 7 going on 17, and 2nd grade starts on Monday!! (And an actual 17 year old senior for little guy to model after!).

Great idea for a group!

McKenna starts 2nd grade too, and the sleepover plans can be incredible! Scheming and dreaming, I tell you!

My Maddie is going into 2nd grade and 7 is such an AWESOME age. She arranged a sleepover with a girlfriend Saturday night and explained to me that she had been planning it since she was 5 and I had to do everything in my power to make sure it happened. It is so amazing to hear and see that kind of stuff because I know those wheels are just spinning like crazy up in her head thinking this stuff up.

I have a kindergartner this year too! Not sure what to expect really? Kindergarden is NOT what it used to be! Man, these kids are SMART!
