I just joined this site, so I guess I'll just start in! I have some experience with Trad climbing and have a bit of gear. I have a 16 month old and stopped climbing when I found out i was pregnant. I am dying to get back into it, but will have a harder time with a sitter. Let me know if anyone wants to arrange a climb or something? I have about 5 years of experience but just started to lead, so not much lead experience at all, but I followed a lot of routes, a lot!

I'd also be happy to do some bouldering, hiking, and climbing at other locations around town. Portland Rock Gym is fairly convenient for me since I'm in close-in SE. But, if it's not too far or if someone wants to carpool I might be in! =)

(Sorry for multiple, sequential comments. This darned thing won't let me edit and add to my comments. Drat!)

Oooh.... looking down at the comments I see some questions about kids. The Portland Rock Gym has a class for kids, as does REI. I think they start officially at six. But, my daughter has been climbing at REI since she was five.

The first time I learned that she had been on the wall I was in there with her for something else entirely. One of the employees seemed to know her and came over to ask if she was going to climb! Unbeknownst to me she had been on the wall with her dad a couple of times in the few months prior and he just failed to mention it! *hehe* ;-)

Excellent!!! I went to the intro class last June and loved it. But, I haven't had anyone to go with and I'm far too shy to just walk up to a random stranger and ask him/her to belay for me. It would be great to find a group to go with or someone to partner up with! :)

*bounce bounce* So..... when are we going, guys?! Looks like no one has started up a discussion here yet. Why not?!

My daughter is too young yet but I used to rock climb a lot and even was a rock climbing trip leader for a while. I'd love to get back into it. I'll watch for the next outing.

I am interested, but I've never done this before. Is this something I could start my 8 year old in? He is way more athletic than I am. :)

This sounds great! I like the idea of a weekend, and will be back to town the beginning of May so we should plan to get a big group of us together for that! Thanks Brenda!

We need to plan a day to go, maybe to a group lesson for beginners at a gym?? What do you think?

I agree 100% with you. I find it really hard to forgive my son's father for everything he has ever done to him. He never apologized. I want to forgive him and when I look at him I try to act like everything's fine (for the sake of my son) but I ca...
