Shotgun, hands down. Scott do you know how incredibly inaccurate AKs are? There's a reason the Russians are good at producing ammo and making guns that don't jam in crummy conditions... because they have to shoot a hell of a lot of rounds to hit anything.
Secondly? That's easy. Nothing says love to zombies like a thermonuclear detonation.

The sword from halo for close combat and a M1 tank. If you run out of bullets in the tank you can always just use the zombies for track grease.
