That's how much I've lost so far. I started this weight loss excursion on August 4th. My goal is to get from a 42 waist back down to a 36 by Nov 4th.

I am 6'4'. All my life I've been an athlete. I used to play pro basketball. for crying out loud. 3 months ago when I hopped on a scale for the first time in years I weighed 288 lbs.

AAGGHHH!!

It was time i did something before this got anymore out of hand. I did research on diet, calories, proteins, carbohydrates, metabolism, etc., and I decided to go with a modified version of a low carb diet. But that's not all.

Sitting behind my desk for 3 years had taken it's toll. I used to be a night crew manager for Safeway and was constantly on my feet, throwing freight, stocking shelves, basically getting paid to exercise. Now i have the best job of my life but there is no activity to it at all. Then throw in that it's right across the street from a 7-11. There is not much healthy food there.

So every day one or more of my co-workers spend our lunch at the Nike track off of Terwilliger by the YMCA. I also reduced 500 calories per day from my diet and exercising 500 to 100 calories off per day. Seeing as a pound of fat on our body is roughly 3500 calories, if i reduce 1000 to 1500 calories per day, then I lose over a pound a week.

Well I have lost about 4.5 pounds per week so far. Funny, i found out that men burn fat faster than women due to a higher metabolic rate. (sorry ladies)

So why am I telling you this?

Motivational speaker Tony Robbins said "Tell everyone about your goals. Tell everyone you can what you are going to do. That way if don't do it, you look like an idiot." No one wants to look bad. Sometimes criticism is the best motivator.

So if you ever met me after Nov 4th, 2008 and I am a big, fat guy. You have my permission to MOCK AWAY!!

This is inspiring to me since I currently weigh more than I ever have. I'm scared to give up my little comforts of alcohol and little treats in the evening. (I live across from a Trader Joe's so totally understand your 7-11 thing!) I do need to exercise more but can't figure out how to fit it in. I got the wii fit board, but i'm not using it like i thought. I'm impressed and I think you have very concrete goals that are achievable and measurable! Wow. You clearly have but a lot of thought into it, let alone the actual WORK of doing it! Keep on keeping on!
